A fairytale with princes and princesses, set in our own time and community, is the basis for an inclusive drama project for children.

”Over skyene” (Above the clouds) is intended to promote understanding and communication between deaf, blind, hearing and seeing young people. A lack of information as well as fear and uncertainty mean that these three groups have many prejudices against each other. This drama focuses instead on what we can learn from each other.

Deaf, blind, hearing and seeing stage artists will be working together on this project. Birgit Amalie Nilssen, theatre director at Haugesund Theatre, is both scriptwriter and director. She has been inspired by the litterature of Rasmus Løland.

The performance will have Norwegian speech as well as Norwegian sign language and will also be audio-visualised for the blind.

The script and sound effects for this drama will be developed in cooperation with the actors, so that the needs of all three target groups are met.

The opening night will be in February 2008, and the drama will be played both in the Festiviteten in Haugesund and Sandnes Cultural Centre.
