On Saturday 6 December we came together around our Open Port to say farewell to our year as European Capital of Culture. The occasion was monumental, spectacular, beautiful, emotional and joyous.

Our year has been a triumph of participation, creativity and new adventures in unexpected places. We have met challenges, asked ourselves questions, expressed extreme feelings and dared both share and to disagree. Thank you – each and everyone who has contributed to making this year a huge success.
