The Culture Schools of Sandnes and Stavanger celebrate themselves and each other on 5 to 13 March.
By coordinating the schools' celebration weeks while also establishing two major joint projects, the intention is to create arenas for further collaboration between the two schools – with closer contacts between the two schools as a result. This will encourage even more participation and interest in the local community.  

The Culture Schools' week of celebration is a regular event, and thousands of gifted students have enriched the cities through their skills and talents. In 2008 they will hold concerts in the schools, institutions, churches, downtown, and also some other, unexpected locations.   

These activities culminate in two spectacular performances. There will be a massive turn-out and brilliant joint performance in Stavanger Concert Hall, while the Sandnes centre of arts and culture will present some of the most outstanding talents from both culture schools.  

The Sandnes and Stavanger culture schools have more than 200 employees and 5.300 students put together, which puts them in the lead for size nationwide. In a 'normal year' the two schools organize some 300 large and small events, with an audience of more than 30,000 people all told.   

The activities by the two culture schools will be carried out in the spirit of Stavanger2008, based on the pillars of openness, hospitality, children and young people.
