Leif Ove Andsnes is probably the Norwegian artist currently enjoying the highest international acclaim. As part of our programme for the Year of the Voice, Stavanger2008 contributes to a concert by Andsnes and the best youth orchestra in Norway.  

The Norwegian National Youth Orchestra is a symphonic orchestra with 100-115 members, which is assembled each year and made up by the best music students from the conservatoires around the country. The Youth Orchestra fills a national role as orchestral education, bringing to the students the valuable experience of playing together in a big orchestra, working with different directors and soloists, and familiarising themselves with important orchestra repertoires. Artistic director of the orchestra is the conductor Ole Kristian Ruud.
