25 000 at Stavanger2008 closing ceremony

The closing ceremony of Stavanger2008 6. December drew 25 000 spectators to the Vågen port of Stavanger where more than 700 choristers, musicians and soloists performed a selection of songs that centre on the past, present and the future.

A giant ball in the water was lit up by images from the year gone by, surrounded by a spectacular light show. Simultaneously, a singing child set sail from Vågen to share the Stavanger region’s cultural message with the world at large.

– The ceremony is a conclusion, but also a beginning. We will continue to be a cultural city in 2009 and the years ahead, says Mayor of Stavanger, Leif Johan Sevland.
